If you’ve been here a while then you know we gave this guest bath a refresh about a year and a half ago you can see what we did in this post.

I love the updates we’ve made so far, but some of the decor details needed a refresh. This small full bath is not fully yet finished. Lighting still needs to be added and replaced over the sink, but I do like the progress we’ve made on it so far, it’s definitely cute and perfect for guests.
But as of recently (okay for almost a year now or longer) I’ve been over the shower curtain I originally purchased it from Target when we first moved in. It was pretty and practical but it was too short from the start and for the last three years it’s been an eye sore at least to me. I had been looking for something to replace it with but wasn't in any rush or I wasn't finding anything I liked and definitely wasn’t on my list of priorities unless I stumbled upon something.
Recently West Elm was having a 40% off sale and though I wasn't hopeful I at least wanted to browse to see if anything popped out to me. I love West Elm because of their products are of high quality and occasionally reasonably priced.

Before I share more about what I found on West Elm, can we talk about the thrifted faucet.
Last summer I happened to find a new faucet for this sink at the thrift store for only $6 if you can believe it. It was the perfect fit. And I actually don’t mind the satin nickel finish. I happen to like the mix of metals in a bathroom not sure it may or may not change down the line but I love it for now it was definitely better than what was here originally and can't beat the price. The original faucet was original to the house and pretty squeaky.
Since then I've also found and added a few thrifted pieces of art and a (new in the original package) thrifted hanging hook to the back of the door. I don’t know about you but I love adding small details like that to a bathroom whenever I get the chance. Playing with hardware is fun. It's the little things right?!

I'm starting to rethink the position of the small shelf above the toilet. I originally placed it through because it meant less likely anyone would bump their heads on it but it seems to high for me and I thought of putting more art underneath it but not sure. I keep going back and forth and wonder if a small cupboard shelf would be better here, if I happen to find one at the thrift store, then we'll see. For now it works.

With luck I found something I actually liked from West Elm when it came to the shower curtain, colors and length just worked perfectly and I couldn't be happier with the result. The colors this shower curtain has were ideal because I recently also changed some of the art work which of course was all thrifted and the shower curtain brings out the colors in the art so well.
While all of this was slowly coming together I decided to update the shower curtain rod while I was at it. I already had this rod on hand actually. I had used it in a different room/project before for a curtain it was originally purchased from Amazon. Although it didn't work out in the previous space I knew I'd use it again somewhere and so it was the perfect look and length for this.
The curtain rods that came with the house were all the same, original to the house satin nickel finish and all had or have some rust to them. I have cleaned them multiple occasions to try and remove the rust but it will only last for a short period of time. So slowly but surely I am replacing all of them. One down. Two more to go.

Speaking of the art, this new thrifted piece by John Hafen is called Girl Among the Hollyhocks and it's one of John Hafen's most recognizable work. John Hafen was once a part of the Society of Utah Artists Utah Art Association his family migrated here from Switzerland when he was only 6 years old and by the time he was 8 he knew he wanted to be an artist. I highly recommend you read more about him and his work, it's beautiful, I'm a huge fan and have become very fascinated.
Funny thing I had seen it at the thrift sore before and my hands were already full so I had passed on it once before I went back a different time, and it was still there and I was pushing around a cart so when I saw it I knew I had to have it and it was still only $5 so I definitely couldn't pass it up. I wasn't even sure where it would end up, but I'm a huge fan of having beautiful or interesting art to look at in a bathroom. It almost makes the space feel cozy and elevated.
Another funny story is that two weeks after I had purchased this piece of art, another day at the office turned into us being able to shop some items that didn't sell at our stores or we had from overstock and one of John Hafen's books that covers his life's work just so happened to be in the mix of things and I was able to bring it home for FREE! I mean if that's not kismet then I don't know what is.
I just love how it looks in this space.

When I found the shower curtain I also found the bath mat below that almost matched (colors of course) and it was on sale too so of course I had to get it because I hadn't really ever purchased a bath mat for this bath, again everything I kept finding was too big or not color coordinating somehow. This new mat feels chic and modern amongst my thrifted art and love that it gives the space a fresh eclectic feel.
By the way the bath toy holder is obvious and this bath tub is mostly used by our grandson therefore its a must have, I'll link it below in case you're interested it's come in very handy.

These small yet big impactful updates have made such a difference in how this small guest bath feels not only for us but for any of our future guests.
Hope you enjoyed this post and recent updates, I'll be back soon with more. Stay tuned.
