I Bought A Fixer Upper Farmhouse Style Dollhouse

I sold one of my two dollhouses recently. The other one still hasn’t sold yet, but honestly, I’m okay with that because I found the dollhouse I’ve been dreaming about: a farmhouse-style dollhouse with a wrap-around porch, and I couldn’t love her more.

She’s technically called the Victoria's Farmhouse Dollhouse, and I believe Hobby Lobby still sells her. She’s definitely a beauty—and pretty expensive at retail price—so thank goodness for Facebook Marketplace.

Thankfully, she was already mostly assembled, which made bringing her home even more exciting.

I actually wasn’t looking for another dollhouse when I found her. I was just doing my usual Facebook Marketplace browsing, hoping that someday I’d come across a dollhouse that would inspire me again. What can I say? I’m obsessed with tiny things—especially dollhouses.

I guess you could call it a hobby, but this one feels especially personal to me. Decorating a dollhouse feels a lot like decorating a real home… just smaller, and somehow even more fun.

The moment I saw this farmhouse, I knew it was time to let go of my other two dollhouses. Realistically, my husband probably wouldn’t be thrilled with me keeping too many, and honestly, we just don’t have room for more than one—let alone two.

Truthfully, I’d already been considering selling my other dollhouses for a while. I hadn’t worked on them much lately, and the motivation just wasn’t there anymore. I wasn’t making time for them, and they no longer sparked that same excitement.

But this one? This one feels right.

I’m genuinely excited to work on her, and I’ve already slowly started tackling the exterior. It’s definitely going to be a work in progress, but so far, it’s been such a fun project.

I’m also trying to decide whether to keep the current blue paint color or give her a completely fresh coat of paint. Right now, I’m leaning toward repainting her.

I haven’t fully planned out the interior yet, but once I do, I’ll definitely share more. For now, here’s what she looked like the day I picked her up.

What the Exterior Still Needs

  • Roof eaves
  • Roof shingles
  • Repairs to some exterior damage
  • Front door
  • Shutters
  • Porch paint
  • Fireplace exterior details

If you follow me on Instagram, you might remember when I shared this amazing lot of dollhouse furniture I found—plus a few pieces I already had. At the time, I had no idea I’d be buying a new (old) dollhouse shortly after.

One funny moment already: while attaching the eaves on the side of the house, I realized I accidentally put them on backwards. Thankfully, the shingles should hide my mistake pretty well.

That’s all I have for now. Next up, I’ll be staining the shingles and starting work on the railings for both the upper and lower porches as soon as I can.

Stay tuned—more to come soon.

xx
