This was a fun project to see come to life.
I'm glad that I took my time in deciding what I wanted this wall to evolve to. It's been a fun one and one that I'm glad is finally 80% finished. Yes, I say 80% because I may be adding more decorative trim in the future I'm still deciding.
Nonetheless this project for now is finished. I'm moving on.
What finally brought this Hallway Wall Project to a close was the top ledge piece, bottom trim and the art pieces on the wall.
Below is what it looked like before without the top ledge and bottom trim.
As you can see it looks way different. You can see more in the progress blog post here.
And below is what it looks like now.
Adding that top ledge piece made a different, unfortunately we couldn't have it stick out long enough to hold items such as art or decorative items because of the garage door opening and being that it's a small hallway entry/exit to our garage and downstairs living area.
The bottom trim simply elevated the look of the bottom trim/moulding. There were also a couple of tears no the bottom of the wallpaper that I wanted to cover therefore it only seemed appropriate and an easy way to fix that problem.
I was simply waiting to also find the right decorative art pieces to add to this space. Again this area is simply utilitarian and adds character to this space considering there's not much more you can do with this wall.
I finally found this pair of frames with seashells on FBMP for $30 and I couldn't be more in love. I wanted something that felt light and whimsy and not overly done. I think I nailed it for now. They remind me of where we come from and our love for the sea.
Makes a great way to display my straw hand bags and woven gardening hat for daily use in the spring, summer and fall but I might just keep them up all year round.
WHAT WE USED.
We love how it turned out and I cannot wait to finish the mudroom closet but been focusing on our outdoor projects for now before the weather gets unbearable. Stay tuned though hopefully it won't be much longer.
